Who needs an accountant in 2020?

Insights on the future of accounting

This is an interesting question given the fact that a large part of our services revolves around accounting or accounting related such as payroll services. We believe that our added value is not in the bookkeeping itself but in helping our clients analyze their numbers and plan ahead so they can realize their goals.

With this forward-looking approach, we need to minimize the time our clients (and ourselves) spend on doing the actual bookkeeping. That’s why we are teaming up with Twinfield and streamlining the bookkeeping process. Twinfield is one of the many accounting software suppliers, such as Quickbooks. We chose to work with Twinfield because it is user-friendly and can be linked to other software. For example, software that scans and recognizes invoices and automatically posts these invoices or Point of Sale systems and software. This makes our, but certainly your, life a lot easier.

Look out for a roll-out of Basecone together with Twinfield, which will be the driving force in automating your accounting process. After a successful period of internal testing of these solutions at Baker Tilly, we are currently running two pilot projects for clients, one on Saba and one on St. Maarten.

Are you a fast mover and do you want to join our pilot group? Welcome to the 21st century! Just give us a call and one of our accounting professionals will help you transform your current accounting administration to a digital accounting process. We can also train you and your staff to make optimal use of this digital platform.

As we approach 2020, we expect that most of our time will be spent on advising our clients on the financial challenges they are experiencing, and presenting to them their monthly and/or quarterly reports. We envision you having seamless access to your banking and accounting information from your cellphone and uploading pictures of invoices and receipts that are then automatically booked. The old-school method of bookkeeping is about to disappear forever. No more filing paper! No more printing! No more scanning! Just full virtual control in the palm of your hand.

Welcome to 2020, welcome to Baker Tilly!
